on Lake Fork has picked up recently. In the past week we have seen
several 7 to 10 pound fish brought in to the marinas and our daily
catch has almost doubled. The full moon of April should be the
main spawn so I expect the next two weeks to be even more
On the cloudy, rainy
days, as long as there is wind, we are still able to catch quite a
few fish on spinnerbaits. On days with less wind, more fish are
being caught on soft plastic jerkbaits fished extremely slow.
Shallow pockets, and backs of creeks are still producing the most
The lake is still murky
from all the spring rains and fish on beds are extremely hard to
see, so you just have to slow down and fish thoroughly to
antagonize fish that are spawning.
The next warming trend
should produce a very good buzzbait bite because by then we should
have fish actually guarding nests and some big females still
cruising the shallows.
